The US Government through her ambassador to Kenya Kyle McCarter has donated over 30,000 masks to the National Police Service Commission.

Commission chair Eliud Kinuthia in receiving the masks says the police are in the forefront in the fight against Covid -19 and are at a very high risk, thus the donation will go a long way in protecting them. “covid 19 has affected every sector and we have more than eighty thousand police officers on duty that are in constant contact with the mwananchi and therefore welcome the move by the US embassy to donate the masks to our officers. We welcome other private sector to continue with the support.” Said commissioner Kinuthia.

The US Amb. McCarter has called on the private sector to involve the youths and local manufacturers to provide employment opportunities to youths who have been left jobless following the pandemic that has affected every sector in the country. The masks were made locally by youths, with Amb. McCarter saying that the country should marshal together and protect one another. “Following the loss of jobs in the country during this Covid 19 pandemic, we decided to engage the youths in the manufacture of the masks. And am encouraging the private sector to do the same” says Amb. McCater

The masks that are reusable will be issued to police and NPSC staff.
