NATIONAL PARK FEES REDUCED BY 50 PERCENT

In a bid to boost the tourism sector and increase revenue, CS Tourism and Wildlife, Hon. Najib Balala has this morning reduced park entry fees for Kenyans and International visitors by 50 percent effective 1st of July, 2020.

In a statement released to newsrooms, said that together with a 50 percent reduction fee for film makers who are normally charged by KWS when they film documentaries in the parks.

CS Balala said that the previous gazetteted entry fee of 300 shillings will now be reduced to 150 shillings. “We have given a 50% discount of park entry fee on a gazette fee with effects from first of July. So we have revoked the previous one and introduced the new fees for the next 1year. We are making this changes in order to encourage local and foreign tourist to visit and stay longer in our park. The longer they stay, the more they pay and also promote local curriour shops and local economy.  

Balala also announced a moratorium for free rent for all lodges in Kenya Wildlife Parks. The CS urged the lodges to use the rent holiday to improve services.
